Benefits of Volunteering
By volunteering you can...
- Meet new people - volunteering can bring you into contact with like minded people as you volunteer together for a cause. It is also a good way to meet people from different backgrounds.
- Have fun - many students tell us about the fun they have whilst volunteering.
Build confidence - while volunteering you will experience challenges and develop new skills. This can help you to build confidence.
- Boost your employability - volunteering is a great way for you to develop skills such as communication, organisation, teamwork and time management that many employers look for in today's competitive market.

Managing your Volunteers
This information covers volunteer management; a topic often overlooked by many organisations. If care and attention isn’t devoted to volunteers, and their work, they can become de-motivated and the experience of volunteering can become a negative one for all involved. In order to avoid this it is important that volunteers are valued and managed properly by the organisation that they are working with.

Taking on Young Volunteers
Young people make great volunteers. They can bring real enthusiasm, commitment and energy to your organisation. A positive volunteering experience for a young person can lead to a commitment to volunteering that will be sustained throughout their lives.
